I went from being a bad artist to a good artist in one day after making this simple distinction. I couldn’t believe how simple it was. I’ll tell you the basic concept here so you don’t have to waste any more time making bad art.
Good art is all about feelings. People want to feel something. It doesn’t matter if the feelings are positive or negative. They just need to be intense.
People put art in two categories: 1) That’s interesting! or 2) I don’t care. You want your art to be in category 1.
It takes people 2 seconds to decide if they are interested. How they feel determines if they stick around.
It all boils down to feelings. How does your art make people feel? Good art makes people feel intense emotions. Bad art leaves people indifferent.
Good art gets noticed because it makes people feel something. Bad art doesn’t get noticed because no one cares.
That’s it. You just learned 80% of the rules of good art. You’re welcome.
