Websites like Trello.com have more than 1.1 million daily active users. With such a widely accessible service, Graphic Designers and Brand Managers have a big challenge: creating a consistent brand experience across many platforms.
Trello has to look and feel like Trello whether you are on their website, using a smartphone, or using an accessory like the Apple Watch.
So how does a company like Trello stay consistent when working thousands of designers, developers, marketers, and printing companies?
They create a system.
The design team at Trello created a Brand Guide to make sure that Trello kept looking like, well, Trello.
Colors, fonts, design principles, image sizes, and other design elements are all pre-defined. Teams can focus on getting things done instead of trying to reinvent the wheel every time they make something new.
So when Trello hires an app company to work on their Android application, the developers don’t have to think about what colors to use for the buttons. They just follow the system. The button colors have already been decided for them in the Brand Guide.
My Daily Brand Guide
Just like Trello has a Brand Guide, I have a Morning Guide that I stick to religiously.
I wake up at 6AM every morning, make a cup of coffee, sit on a pillow in the corner of my room and read/write for 90 minutes.
